It would be fair to say that people will do whatever it takes to avoid traumas. I see things quite differently. Whilst I do not enjoy them, I see them as a critically necessary part of our healing process. Here’s how I see it:
When the body suffers a significant physical or emotional trauma it will do its best to heal itself. If that trauma was so significant that a full healing was not possible then this subconscious will recreate (time after time) situations which will mimic the trauma that was originally suffered. It does this to give the body another chance at fully healing the original wound.
Everybody has reoccurring themes and challenges in their lives. Most people can probably identify at least three immediately if you ask them.
When clients come to see me the first thing we will always do is identify what has been going on in their lives and what particular challenges they would like to address in the session. They will recount trauma after trauma that they can identify in this current life.
When I begin tracking these themes and working backwards in time towards the original wound, I can be almost certain of two things:
Significant traumas rarely have original wounds that have originated in this lifetime.
My clients are not aware of the original wound, only the most recent reoccurrence of them.
Once the original wound has been tracked, identified and healed completely, the reoccuring pattern of traumas in their lives will cease.
Staying on the theme of traumas, when I hear of people who have been “Struck down” by illness or “taken out of the game” by a random event, I never cease to be amazed at how people put so much emphasis on what happened externally to the person rather than looking at the Days, weeks, months or even years of lead up to that event.
When you practice the art of listening to your body and noticing the external flow around you and whether that is regularly blocked, challenged or otherwise you can begin To see the patterns emerge and not be so surprised when major events happen.
The body will never wait for you to have enough money, have enough time or wait until the moment is just right so that you can deal with the challenges in your life. Denial, ignorance, or using behaviours or drugs to mask wounds will not hasten the body’s will to heal. As people are seeing more and more nowadays, they will just be taken out of the game and be forced to deal with these challenges that I suggest have been there long before this most recent “random” event.
